SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 28, 2022) – A Lakeshore community has taken the pulse of its constituents.
The City of Saugatuck on Tuesday disclosed results of a Strategic Planning Survey. Of 629 questionnaires sent out via a email subscription list earlier this fall, 196 were returned, with nearly 64 percent of respondents residing in the Allegan County municipality.
Infrastructure topped the list of priorities among respondents at 56 percent, which included addressing road resurfacing, water service line replacement, and improved cellular phone coverage. It was followed by Parks and Recreation projects and City Organization and Culture in importance. As for specific goals, respondents wanted short-term rentals, public restrooms and the completion of the non-motorized Blue Star Trail addressed by the city.
The Saugatuck City Council went over these survey results earlier this month, and plan to use them as a blueprint for the direction the city would take in 2023.
