Faye Van Kampen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the age of 85.
Born May 20, 1937, in Graafschap, Michigan to Clarence and Johanna Volkers, Faye was the oldest of six siblings. She married Bernard (Bernie) Van Kampen on March 21, 1957. The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary before Faye’s passing. Throughout her life, Faye’s greatest joy was to be a servant to others. She practiced this through her love of cooking for family, friends, and those in need. She believed in self-reliance and was an active gardener. Her eggplant parmigiana and lemon meringue pie remain unrivaled. She was active in her church with Sunday School, VBS, and various other women’s groups. For twenty years, Faye and Bernie volunteered with World Renew to aid families rebuilding after disasters, including Hurricane Katrina among many others across the country.
Faye was predeceased by her parents; her son-in-law, Daniel DeLeeuw, and other cherished families.
Faye is survived by her husband, Bernie Van Kampen; children, Joan DeLeeuw, Londa (Mark) Kurburski, and Dan (Dana) Van Kampen; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Evan) Burton, Nicholas (Nicole) Kurburski, Emily Kurburski, Madelyn Kurburski, Dan Martell, Christopher Martell, Sara Van Kampen, Nathan (Krysta) Van Kampen; great-grandchildren, Colman and Alec Burton, Alaina Kurburski, and Liam and Adam Martell; siblings, James (Eunice) Volkers, Clyde (Joan) Volkers, Paul (Linda) Volkers, Ruth Erlich, Mary (Joel) Tayler; and in-laws, Phyllis Van Kampen, Judy Van Kampen, Rose Van Kampen, Henry Van Kampen, and Pat (Mike) Slawinski.
