Arthur Louis Klamt, 85, of Jensen Beach, Florida, formerly of Zeeland, Michigan, passed away December 7, 2022, following a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Art was born in Zeeland in 1937, to Clarence and Elsie (Seekman) Klamt. He graduated from Zeeland High School and he married Kay Scully in 1958. They raised their children in Zeeland and Art worked as an owner of Zeeland Dry Cleaners. Art also was a partner in Aseltine Cider for many years. Art loved to golf and kept a winter home in Mazatlan for almost 30 years. He also liked to have fun and enjoyed making people laugh. Art was a longtime member of the Holland Elks Club & Holland Country Club, and an avid cribbage player. Art was widowed in 2008 when Kay preceded him in death. Later, Art met Kathy Potter and they married in 2013. In 2018, he was inducted into the Zeeland Athletics Hall of Fame. Art was a sweet loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Art and Kathy moved to Jensen Beach 2 and ½ years ago.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Kalman, his granddaughter Izabella, brother-in-law George Kalman, and sister-in-law Lorraine Klamt.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, his children: Steve & Leanne Klamt, Richard & Tania Klamt, John & Jan Klamt, Coco Klamt, Carey & Dirk van Putten; grandchildren & great-grandchildren: [Ashley (Peter) Klaasen-Braden, Madison, Owen, Pierson], Heather Klamt, [Mason (Kala) Coeling-Braedyn, Hudson], [Rita (Robert) Dawson-Wyatt], Chloe, Izabella (deceased), Deklen, [Adam(Laura), Olivia (Danny) Bauder, Sophia (Cooper) Heaphy, Jackson(Mikayla)], [Kegan Rue, Kelsey (Lee) DeJonge-Bella, Addison, Brycen, Broedy], [Kennidi (Braden) Werley-Oakley, Kash], Haily (Jay) Hickey-Kensington, Colleen VandePoel, Jacklyn VandePoel, Lily van Putten.
Step-children and grandchildren: Nicole & Lance Kuipers (Connor, Cameron, Andrew, Stella, Elise), Nathan & Christina Boeve (Macy), Aaron &Tiffanie Boeve (Cora, Isaac), Andrea & Mike Stam (Ethan, Katelyn, William); his only brother Ron Klamt, his wife Kathy’s siblings: Keith & Miney Potter, Kurtis & Judy Potter, Kimberly and Ray Resseguie, Kristi Potter, and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Art’s life will be held 1:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Salt & Pepper Savory Grill, 11539 Lakewood Blvd, Holland MI 49424.
