LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 9, 2022) – According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the new reporting rules for deer hunting season have rolled out smoothly.
For the first time this year, deer hunters were required to report their harvest online within 72 hours. Chad Stewart with the Michigan DNR says that hundreds of deer have been reported and the agency is pleased with the data, and is hopeful even more hunters will take part next year. He went onto say the new rules were designed to keep reporting top of mind and give the DNR a more accurate count of the harvest. According to the DNR, 5,060 deer were harvested in Allegan County and 3,193 in Ottawa County. In total, about 265,000 deer kills have been reported by hunters around the state.
