ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 9, 2022) – With Christmas Day coming two weeks from Sunday, many people will be heading out over the weekend to get the live Christmas Tree for the festive holiday.
According to Master Gardener Jan Meeuwsen of DeBruyn Seed in Zeeland, a live tree, with proper care, should last about two weeks inside of the home before it becomes more of a fire hazard than anything else.
While some communities such as the city of Holland have a special recycling effort after the holiday, most others do not, and Meeuwsen suggests that discarded Christmas Trees could best be used in the backyard as a shelter for birds and small animals during the winter months.
