GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 29, 2022) – A 25-year-old Holland woman was sentenced on charges stemming from a summer incident in which a home on Holland’s North Side was burgled in broad daylight.
Alyssa Aplin was ordered to serve nine months in the Ottawa County Jail by Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing on Monday for the June 12th crime in which she admitted entering the residence off of Butternut Drive south of Riley Street around 3 PM, pulling a gun out during a skirmish with the resident, who apparently was an acquaintance, and drove off with some property. Aplin was arrested a short time late in the city of Holland.
While she was awaiting this sentencing, Aplin was apprehended eight days ago in Grand Haven after allegedly stealing a vehicle in front of a residence in the Leisure Estates manufactured home community with the victim’s purse inside. She was spotted later trying to use one of the purloined credit cards at a convenience store south of Grand Haven, and surrendered after fleeing on foot onto a 15-foot high stack of crates and pallets at a nearby business. She is slated for a preliminary hearing on a variety of charges in Grand Haven District Court on Thursday.
