John was born September 20, 1946, in Zeeland to Frank and Nella Meyer. He graduated from Zeeland High School in 1964. John married his wife Pam in 1970. They raised their three children in Zeeland and were members of First Reformed Church. John worked for Donnelly (now Magna) Mirrors prior to retiring.
John’s faith and family were foremost. He loved spending time with family and attending his grandkids’ athletic events.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Pam; his parents; his sisters: Arloa Smallegan, Marlene Menken; and his brother-in-law, Chuck Devenport.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Craig & Tiffany Meyer (Justin, Caden, Karsten), Lynne & Mike Wyrick (Leanne, Kayla), Amy Meyer; siblings: Frank & Sarah Meyer, Sharon & Ron Welch, Marcia & Ron Klein, Laura Devenport; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rich & Jan Palmbos, Wanda & Curt Van Noord, Bill & Pam Palmbos, Don & Pat Palmbos, Marty Smallegan, Randall Menken; and many extended relatives.
A funeral service, with Rev. Michelle VanDenBerg officiating, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at First Reformed Church of Zeeland, 125 East Lincoln Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. Visitation will take place Monday, November 21, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Private family burial will be held in the Zeeland Felch Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Geneva or Hospice of Holland.
