By Patty Vandenberg Nov 21, 2022 | 11:40 AM
Earl Arendsen went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, November 16, 2022, at the age of 89.

Earl was born in Drenthe, MI, and was raised in the farming community. He was the oldest of five children born to John and Jessie (Louwsma) Arendsen.

Earl was a lifelong member of Drenthe Christian Reformed Church. He retired from Herman Miller after 43 years. Earl volunteered at Bibles for Mexico and enjoyed many years of service working for the Drenthe Grove. Earl donated 16 gallons of blood over the years to the American Red Cross. Earl enjoyed a competitive game of fast-pitch softball, both playing and watching.

Earl served his country with the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was also a member of the Honor Guard.

Earl was a faithful servant to the Lord, a loving husband, and father, a wonderful grandfather, the most fun great-grandfather, and a good friend, and he will be greatly missed by all he leaves behind.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his daughter Karen Tucker, siblings; Lee and Donna Arendsen, Del Arendsen, Ila and Glen Molter; and in-laws Charlene and Jerry Loop, and Diane and Gordon Wilson.

Earl is survived by his bride of 65 years, Lou; his children: Dave and Cindy Arendsen, Steve and Jean Arendsen, and son-in-law, Marc Tucker; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Allison and Tyler Vugteveen, Jessica and Chad Strabbing (Olivia, Macy, and Harper), Leah and Tom Bailargeon (Greta and Elsa), Josh Arendsen, Brad and Amanda Arendsen (Sloan), Jacob Tucker, Riley and Summer Arendsen, Aaron and Eloisa Arendsen, Samuel Tucker, and Noah Arendsen; brother, Gene and Mariann Arendsen; sister-in-law Muriel Arendsen; and special niece, Jeri, and Bob Keeney.

Visitation with the family is 4:00-7:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 E. Main St. Zeeland, MI 49464.

Funeral services are at 10:00 am Monday, November 21, 2022, at Drenthe Christian Reformed Church, 6344 Adams St. Zeeland, MI 49464 followed by military honors provided at the cemetery.

Burial to take place in West Drenthe Cemetery.
