ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 11, 2022) – Officials with Canvas Townhomes near the GVSU campus in Allendale have already had a school year’s full of incidents with the first semester of Academic 2023 not even complete.
Around 2:30 AM on Friday morning, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies and other first responders were dispatched to that student housing complex off of 48th Avenue and Pierce Street on a report that a vehicle crashed into one of the buildings there. It appeared that an 18-year-old Byron Center woman was heading south and tried to turn right when her SUV left the roadway. It went into an occupied unit, causing significant damage, but the residents inside, as well as the driver, were not hurt.
This crash remains under investigation.
Over a three-week span in late August-early September, Canvas Townhomes was the scene of two separate shooting incidents involving altercations following parties, with one person charged in the September 18th incident.
