Douglas Zondervan, age 56 of Zeeland passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Laura, his parents Ted and Henderika Zondervan, his brothers: Norman and Karen Zondervan and Mark and Tricia Zondervan; his mother-in-law Maria Vicenta Alfaro; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Roberto and Lupita Valdes, Patricia and Jesus Gonzalez, Antonio and Leticia Rivera, Luis and Mary Valdes, Rene and Gloria Valdes; his nieces and nephews: Jenilyn and Jon Patterson (Chase), Ryan and Maggie Zondervan, Katelyn Zondervan, Sara Zondervan, Samantha and Adam Brubacher (Gracie), Joshua Timmerman, Lexi and Andrew Gulch, Aram, Abraham, Ariana, and Jacob Valdes, Charles and Jonathan Valdes, Jessica and Jesus Gonzalez, Betssy and Brayan Rivera, Diana, Francisco, and Daniela Valdes, and Ariana, and Joan Valdes.
Doug was preceded in death by his sister Patricia May Gritter, his father-in-law Francisco Valdes and his brother-in-law Carlos Valdes.
After high school Doug worked in production at Prince Corporation, while he was working full time, he attended night school and eventually graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in tooling engineering. Doug’s career started with Prince Corporation and continued with Johnson Controls and Yanfeng totaling 35 years. Doug was a muscle car and truck builder enthusiast. He also became a licensed builder, building five homes. Above all else, Doug was an honest, good Christian servant who regardless of the situation put Jesus first.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, October 28, 2022, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland and on Saturday from 10-10:45 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the sanctuary at Central Wesleyan Church, 446 West 40th Street.
Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Zeeland Christian School.
