Barb was married for 45 years to her husband, Norm Schut, who passed away in January 2007. Barb leaves behind a son, Brent Schut of Deerton; daughters, Brenda and Steve Isenga of Zeeland, Stephanie and Tom Merkert of Arnold, MD; grandchildren, Josh and Kaylin Isenga, Tim and Kalee Isenga, Anna Isenga, Morgan and Brad Kinstler, and Natalie Merkert; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Brooklyn Isenga. Several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Barb grew up in Elgin, IL., and enjoyed spending time fishing with her father and brothers on the northern lakes of Wisconsin. She attended Trinity Bible College, moved to Grand Rapids, MI., and began working at Radio Bible Class. She met Norm through family and watched him play many Hope College basketball games. After a win, Norm took Barb to Kollen Park in Holland where he asked her to marry him. Barb retired from being an Administrator at various retirement communities. Barb always undertook positions fearlessly, she managed restaurants and created entrées for menus. She used her gifts of cooking and entertaining throughout her entire life, kidding always she knew how to cook for 200 people better than 2.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Hazel Dierking, sisters, Dorothy Hess, Marge Carlson, brothers, Jerry Dierking, Bob Dierking, her husband, Norm, and grandson Andrew Isenga.
A time of visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. at 4374 64th St., Zeeland. A public graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, at Beaverdam Cemetery prior to the visitation. Pastor Simon Endacott will officiate.
