Alice J. Gruessing age 70, of Zeeland, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, after a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born and raised in Zeeland and graduated from Holland Christian High School and Pine Rest School of Nursing. She worked for over 30 years for Drs. De Long and Stagemen. Alice was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, taking care of her grandchildren and helping others. Over the years she was involved with Calvinettes(GEMS), Zeeland Christian School Circle and Kids Hope.
She was preceded in death by her father, Garth Brummel and a grandson, Josiah Gruessing.
Alice is survived by her husband of 50 years, John; children, Kristi and Jim Lynch of Menasha, WI, Rob and Sue Gruessing of Zeeland, Mark and Lori Gruessing of Lowell, IN; 10 grandchildren, Connor and Nathan Lynch, Emma, Clara, Micah, Elliana, Alison, Sawyer, Wyatt and Mason Gruessing; mother, Gladys Brummel of Zeeland; siblings, Ron and Evelyn Brummel of Dale, IN, Chuck and Sheri Brummel of Allendale, Cheryl Greco of Hudsonville; in-laws, Mary and Jim Van Wingerden of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 515 E. Main Ave., Zeeland, with Rev. Daniel Kinnas officiating. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Wednesday, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland 49464. Memorial contributions may be given to Zeeland Christian School or your preferred Christian school.
