He will be dearly missed by his children and grandchildren: Matthew & Jodee Van Overloop(Collin & Arianne, Annika, Kenton, Ella), Jon and Kate Van Overloop(Calvin, Tony, Nick, Joel, Asher, Aleida), Ryan & Marijo Van Overloop(Trevor & Teagan, Ryanne, Caleb, Renae, Lauryn, Kendra), Nathan & Tracy Van Overloop(Bailey & Anna, Grant, Ainsley, Ava, Alivia, Ty), Sherry & John Pipe(Everett, Jaxon, Blake, Hudson, Casen, Jessalyn), Joe & Audra Van Overloop( Taya, Cowen, Sailor, Joash), Jordan & Samantha Van Overloop(Malachi); brothers: Ron & Sue Van Overloop, Tom & Vicky Van Overloop, Greg & Vicki Van Overloop, Randy & Ellen Van Overloop, Dave & Julie Van Overloop; in-laws: John Wayne Ekema, Bob Ekema, Sally & Jim Koll, and many extended family members.
James Alan Van Overloop, 72, of Jenison, was called to his Heavenly Home, eternally prepared for him, on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Jim was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 11, 1950, to Gordon and June (Wustman) Van Overloop. He graduated from Unity Christian High School and Grand Rapids Community College. Jim was a self-employed contractor for many years. He was a charter member of Faith Protestant Reformed Church in Jenison. Jim served/volunteered in several capacities at his church and Christian schools. He loved and trusted his God and was always willing to help others in their need. He spent much time with His grandchildren as they were very precious to him.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Ekema) Van Overloop, on March 2, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents Gord and June Van Overloop and his parents-in-law John and Betty Ekema.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Faith Protestant Reformed Church, 7194 20th Ave., Jenison MI 49428. Private interment will be in Georgetown Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Tuesday also at Faith Protestant Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Protestant Reformed Special Education.
