It pleased the Lord to deliver Rev. Gise J. VanBaren, age 87, from the church militant and bring him to the church triumphant on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He faithfully served five Protestant Reformed congregations as pastor in Doon, Iowa; Randolph, WI; Grand Rapids, MI; Hudsonville, MI; and Loveland, CO. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Clara (Buiter); children, John (Valerie) VanBaren, Carolyn (Robert) Prins, Gerald (Heidi) VanBaren, Marilyn (Michael) VanOverloop, Denise Haan, Daniel (Sheryl) VanBaren, Philip (Patricia) VanBaren, and Rachel (Aric) Bleyenberg; 33 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of late Eileen (Don) Hauck, late Alice VanBaren, Richard (Sylvia) VanBaren, John (Judy) VanBaren and Ruth (Tom) Oosterhouse. Dear brother-in-law of late Everett (Sadie) Buiter, late Bertha (late Wally) Buiter, John (late Thea) Buiter, late Bill (late Joan) Buiter, Anne (late Allan) Vis, Albert (late Jean) Buiter, Neal (late Cheri) (Bernice) Buiter, Jim (Janet) Buiter, late Jeanne Buiter, Rich (Mary) Buiter, and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Trinity Protestant Reformed Church, 3385 Van Buren, Hudsonville 49426. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, also at Trinity PRC. Private interment will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Covenant Christian High School. Arrangements are by the Yntema Funeral Home.
