GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 9, 2022) – A suspect is in custody following a house fire and a possible family disturbance in a Jenison subdivision on Friday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jacob MacKeller, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Melody Lane, in the area of Baldwin Street between Cottonwood Drive and 12th Avenue, shortly after 5:30 PM. There was a report of a white pickup truck driving recklessly through the neighborhood, and that truck was parked in the front yard of a residence.
When first responders arrived at the unoccupied home, they found smoking coming from inside of the dwelling, and although Georgetown Township firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, MacKeller said that there had been significant fire damage. A suspect was taken into custody, but the circumstances which led to the arrest weren’t immediately disclosed, and the suspect will stay in the Ottawa County Jail pending an expected Monday arraignment in Hudsonville District Court.
The case remains open, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
