GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 9, 2022) – A fugitive from justice has been captured in Jenison.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, the department was notified by an undisclosed “neighboring police agency” that the suspect “had a confrontation” with officers and was reportedly armed. Once the suspect fled that neighboring jurisdiction, a chase involving a number of area law enforcement entities ensued, with a vehicle reportedly stolen in Georgetown Township.
The pursuit ended in the area of Baldwin Street and 12th Avenue, where the suspect rammed a number of prowl cars before being captured and taken to an undisclosed local hospital for treatment. There were no other injuries initially reported, and Tamminga said that the arrest ended any possible threat to the public.
The matter remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer.
