Eugene “Speck” Vander Sluis, age 85 of Holland, was welcomed home on September 6, 2022.
Eugene was a member of Christ Memorial Church. He graduated from Holland Christian and worked at General Electric for 40 years. Following his retirement from GE, he drove a bus for West Ottawa Schools. He is also a former member of the Holland Township Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joy and his parents, Adrian and Wilma Vander Sluis.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Greg) Van Huis, David (Corry) Vander Sluis, Nancy (Mark) Staples; stepchildren, Stacey (Steve) VandeVusse, Tracy (Chuck) Branderhorst; grandchildren, Katie and Jim Dratz, Andy Van Huis, Lee and Mary Lubbers, Ethan and Becky Carney, Sam Vander Sluis, Lindsay, Logan Branderhorst, Spencer VandeVusse; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Merle (Karen) Vander Sluis, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, September 12 at 12:00 pm at Christ Memorial Church – Chapel, with a visitation prior to the service starting at 10:30 am with Rev. Dr. Timothy Brown officiating. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery.
