Donald “Duck” Elzinga, age 86 of Zeeland went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family Sunday, September 4, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean; his children: Lori and Tim Barkel, Dann and Deb Elzinga, and Karen and John Wieringa; his grandchildren: Travis and Laurelin Barkel, Justin and Kelsey Barkel, Phillip Barkel, Denise and Kevin Rauwerda, Darin and Jamie Elzinga, Darcy and AJ Frank, Kelli and Steve Salisbury, Katie and Ross Bouwkamp, and Jamin and Emily Wieringa; 19 great-grandchildren; his sister Sheryl Medendorp; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sandra and Erwin Ter Haar, Jayne Elzinga, Mary Hamming, Shirley and John Moored, Nancy Meyers, Elaine Meyers, and Paul and Barb Meyers.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Julia Elzinga and his brothers Bob and Melvin.
Don was a member of Faith Reformed Church; he worked for the Ottawa County Road Commission and served his country in the United States Army.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 West Central Avenue, Zeeland. A celebration of Don’s life with military honors will be 1 pm Thursday, September 8, 2022, also at Faith Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be given to North Ottawa Hospice. www.yntemafh.com
