Dick C Van Loo

Dick C Van Loo went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2022, at the age of 84.

He was born in Holland, Michigan on January 17, 1938, the seventh and last child of Helen Van Loo. Dick was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy (Art) Groenhof, Elaine (Don) Bulthuis, Paul Van Loo, Marjorie (Bob) Smith, Cornie Van Loo, and Beatrice (Roger) Zylema.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Louise; children: Sandra (Chuck) Sikkel, Rod (Sheri) Van Loo, Dean (Kim) Van Loo; grandchildren: Alec, Trevor, Cecilia, Elena (Erin), and Aiden Van Loo; in-laws, Norma Van Loo, Dena Spykman, Minie deJong, Corry Zwart, Chris (Martin) Veenstra; several nieces and nephews.

He attended Holland Christian Schools and graduated in June of 1956. He enjoyed singing in many choirs, beginning with the Singing Boys, church choirs, high school choir, Holland Windmill Chorus, Trinity Men’s choir, Evergreen Chorale, and Evergreen Singers.

He married Louise on September 16, 1960. He loved his family and visited his mother daily. He loved fishing with his brother Paul, family dinners and vacations, walking and talking especially with his friend Rick Paauwe, playing the organ, watching TV, and taking movies and videos at every gathering. He loved a party, especially if it was for him.

He was very active at both Prospect Park and Graafschap CRC serving as deacon and elder. He also attended Men’s Society and loved his years as a cadet leader.

He worked as a bookkeeper at Home Furnace, P. Ray Gemmen, Rivulet Hurst Dairy, Wyrick’s Auto Sales, Holland Hospital, and Repco Lite. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels after retiring.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church St. Holland with Rev. Philip D. Kok officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9:30- 10:45 a.m. Thursday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to World Renew.
