Andres Gimenez’ three-run homer in the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie and powered the Guardians to a 4-1 triumph in the opener. Kerry Carpenter’s solo homer in the sixth inning broke a 3-3 tie as Detroit won the nightcap, 7-5. The series continues at Progressive Field this evening, with broadcast coverage from Dan Dickerson beginning at 6:50 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
Nelson Cruz’ solo homer in the eighth inning broke a 4-4 tie and enabled the Washington Nationals to edge past the visiting Chicago Cubs last night, 5-4. The series at Nationals Park in the Nation’s Capital continues this evening.
