Gene Van Rhee, 74, of Caledonia, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 27, 2020.
Gene was born September 25, 1945, in Zeeland, to Jarvis and Katherine (Seinen) Van Rhee. Gene graduated from Zeeland High School. He then graduated from the Michigan State Agriculture Dairy Tech Program. Gene worked as a dairyman for many years in his early work career. Gene worked the last half of his work career for Michigan Livestock. Gene’s great passion was for animals and teaching dairy to youth
He is survived by his children: Brenda and Vern Dreyer of Zeeland, Brian Van Rhee of Holland, grandchildren: Brittany Dreyer and Brandon Dreyer; his siblings: Hilda and Jerry Holstege, Arloa and Ronald Miedema, Harlan and Kathy Van Rhee, Phyllis and Michael Debski, Cheryl De Wilde; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A worship service in honor of Gene Van Rhee will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Foundry Church, 425 100

Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Visitation with social distancing (facial coverings required for entry) will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thursday, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland 49464. Interment will be in West Drenthe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Fund, or Harbor Humane Society.
