PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 75-year-old Holland area bicyclist was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after he was struck by a SUV while crossing a roadway on Holland’s North Side.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Wildfong, first responders were dispatched to the area of Riley Street and Lakeshore Drive just after 3 PM. It appears that the cyclist was pedaling southbound along the path on Lakeshore. The SUV, driven by a 55-year-old Sturgis man, was attempting to turn north at the intersection of Lakeshore and Riley and struck the bike.
The cyclist was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of what was described only as non-life threatening injuries; the motorist was not hurt.
No names were immediately revealed as the incident remains under investigation.
