Obituary for Shirley Patricia Boehm
Shirley Patricia Boehm, 92, entered eternity into the arms of her Savior on July 6, 2022, surrounded by family in Sparta, Michigan. She was born to Alexandria and Donald Jacobs, on September 25, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan. After the passing of her father, her mother married Peter Mutsch, who raised her as his own.
Family was her deepest joy, as she lovingly raised three beautiful children, Steven (Jody), Deborah, and Lori (Charles Sr.) Lawrence, welcomed her 8 grandchildren, Rebecca (Shawn), Jennifer (Keith II), Sarah (Nathan), Andrew (Erika) Boehm, Charles Jr. (Kristin), Benjamin (Amber), Joel (Amanda), and Meredith (Adam) Lawrence, and delighted in her 23 great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Eliza, Caleb, Colin, Rachel, Eden, Carter, Bria, Tobias, Bujuga, Josephine, Charles III, Madeline, Olivia, Hazel, Ezra, Jude, Jory, James, Sophia, Levi, Elijah, and Lucas.
Shirley’s whole life revolved around caring for her loved ones, preparing wonderful food, praying for her family and friends, and talking about her greatest love, Jesus. She loved reading historical fiction, making cookies at Christmas, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family. Even in her last days, she was buying donuts for her great-grandchildren, greeted everyone with a wide beautiful smile, giving chocolate to the staff of Royal Park Atrium Inn Assisted Living, and making sure everyone was cared for in every way.
By her godly example, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren learned to love unconditionally, forgive deeply, and always be ready to set a 3-course meal when guests arrive, even if it is 11 o’clock at night. She was confident in the presence of Jesus in her everyday life and often talked about His care of her through the joys and sorrows of her days.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Jacobs, her mother, Alexandria, her step-father, Peter Mutsch, her husband, Herbert Boehm, her daughter-in-law, JoEllen Boehm, her sister, Diane Knopf, her brother, Matthew Mutsch, her sister-in-law, Betty Boehm, and her best friend of 75 years, Betty Carr.
Memorial Service to be held July 30, at 2 pm, Royal Park Place. 500 Parkside Dr. Zeeland, Michigan 49464
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31:25-29
