MONTREAL, QUEBEC (WKZO AM/FM) – The first round of the draft is in the books for the Detroit Red Wings.
Detroit selected center Marco Kasper with the eighth overall pick. Kasper had seven goals in Sweden last season.
Rounds two through seven will resume today.
Slovakian forward Juraj Slafkovsky was selected first overall by the Montreal Canadiens. Fellow Slovakian Simon Nemec went second to the New Jersey Devils. Logan Cooley went third overall to the Arizona Coyotes.
