SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WKZO AM/FM) – Carlos Rodon tossed six innings of one-run ball as the San Francisco Giants edged the Detroit Tigers 4-3 Tuesday night.
The left-hander struck out four as he moved to 7-and-4 on the mound. Camilo Doval locked down the victory with his 12th save of the season.
Evan Longoria and Mike Yastrzemski each drove in a pair of runs for San Francisco, which improved to 40-and-33.
Tarik Skubal was tagged with his sixth loss after surrendering three runs over four-and-two-thirds frames.
Miguel Cabrera had two hits in the losing effort for Detroit, which fell to 28-and-45. Cabrera passed Rickey Henderson on the all-time hit list with the 3,056th hit of his career.
The Tigers and Giants will wrap up the brief-two game series this afternoon. Rony Garcia will start for the Tigers. Alex Wood takes the mound for the Giants.
