Rodney (Rod) Klingenberg age 72 of Holland, MI passed into his Lord’s presence on June 23, 2022, at the Appledorn Assisted Living facility after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimers. Having experienced both God’s blessings and life’s challenges, he is now at peace in the Glory of Heaven.
Born in Zeeland Michigan and raised in Holland, MI. Rod graduated from Holland High School and Michigan Technological University where he earned an electrical engineering degree and had a full scholarship for football. At Beechwood Church, Rod became a Deacon and also was involved with the personal Board and numerous other activities and positions.
Rod started his professional career with Johnson Controls in 1974 and continued with JC for 19 years. On April 1st, 1994, he and Terry Edewaard started ASG. Rod retired in January 2017. Retirement brought Rod and Karen to the Villages in Florida. Rod was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather who left behind a wonderful legacy of faith, uncompromising integrity, and generosity.
Rod was proceeded in death by his parents, Anthony (Tony) and Ennise (Ann) Klingenberg. His parents-in-law, Marvin (Bud) and Sylvia (Sib) Dirkse, and brother Steven (Steve) Klingenberg. Rod is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Karen, and by his children Adam, Katie, and Charlotte Klingenberg and Dean, Anna and Cora, and Benaiah (Beni) Klingenberg.
Rod is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Debbie Dirkse of Lake Norman, NC. Dan and Cyndee Dirkse of Holland, MI, and Gary and Alice Dirkse of Holland along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10 am at Beechwood Church and the celebration will follow at 11 am Tuesday, July 5, 2022, also at Beechwood Church, with a luncheon following afterward. As it is a celebration of his life, we would like everyone to dress casual.
