KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As part of it’s continuing effort to ensure all children in Michigan remain nourished and healthy throughout the year, No Kid Hungry recently announced over $70,000 in grants to five schools and community organizations to support their efforts to feed kids this summer and throughout the upcoming school year.
“Every child deserves a happy, hunger free summer. Yet, when kids lose access to school meals, many kids miss out on consistent, essential nutrition. And higher grocery bills can put a real strain on families already struggling to make ends meet.” said Mindy Grant, Senior Program Manager for No Kid Hungry Michigan, “We applaud these grantees for their endless work to support their communities and ensure all kids have the adequate nutrition year-round to be active, healthy and ready to learn.”
The recipients of No Kid Hungry grants across the state include, New Branches Charter Academy, City of Detroit – Parks and Recreation, Schoolcraft County Fair Association, YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, and Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
No Kid Hungry is helping families find Meet Up and Eat Up summer meals near them through our Free Meals Finder map and texting hotline.
