ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – More volunteers that can be ready for emergencies have been prepared in Allegan County.
Not all of the 18 who graduated last week from the county’s quarterly Community Emergency Research Team Basic Training Course live in the county, admitted Coordinator Phil Holscher, but the skills they learned will help them wherever they live and wherever they go. “It helps provide people with some basic training in individual preparedness, family preparedness and community preparedness,” he explained during a Thursday appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “It also gives them some information on how to respond to a disaster.”
The next four-day, 22-total-hour CERT Basic Training Course at the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department headquarters starts on April 25th, with more information available by emailing the team at CERT@allegancounty.org.
