HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Concerns surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States, led to Hope College Athletics officials deciding to cancel all non-league competition for spring sports.
The NCAA also announced the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships are cancelled.
This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, officials said.
Hope College officials said in an email they would work with conferences to evaluate the sports schedule going forward.
“The main priority of the college continues to be the health and safety of its student-athletes, coaches and community,” Hope’s statement read.
