HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Health officials have announced the first positive COVID-19 case: an adult female resident with no known travel, either domestic or international. She is in isolation.
County health officials are working to identify people who may have had contact with the patient, and waht their level of risk may be..
“We are working to identify individuals who may have come into close contact with the patient so we can take appropriate steps and monitor them closely,” said Dr. Paul Heidel, OCDPH medical director, via an email to media. “We are continuing to collaborate with the state health department and recommend residents continue to practice prevention measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
County officials advise people follow basic personal-hygiene measures to prevent the spread of the virus:
- wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer;avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands;cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing;avoid handshakes;avoid contact with sick people; andstay home when you are sick.
