HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Macatawa Area Express Transit Authority (MAX Transit) is adjusting schedules to meet the latest COVID-19-related restrictions.
Saturday service will be limited to dialysis trips between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Beginning Saturday, March 28, 2020, MAX Transit services will shift to 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Evening service is temporarily suspended.
Passengers will be limited to two grocery trips per week to allow others the opportunity to use service for the same purpose. MAX’s grocery bag limit is expanded temporarily from two to four bags.
MAX officials say no ill passengers will be carried. They are asking that anyone with a cold or flu stayhome, or seek other means of transportation if medical attention is required.
“These are uncertain times for everyone, but we would like to assure our passengers that we aretaking every precaution possible to ensure the health and well-being of our community as well as ourstaff.” said Elisa Hoekwater, MAX’s executive director. “We have increased disinfection of vehicles daily and during each shift, and placed signs on seating, directing passengers to sit every other row to maintain proper social distancing. We have been in daily contact with local authorities and agencies to monitor the situation and restructure service as needed.”
