HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Add another casualty to the growing list of events along the Lakeshore outright cancelled for 2020 due to COVID 19.
Officials with Hope College announced on Friday the “very difficult” decision to “postpone Season 49” of the annual Hope Summer Repertory Theatre “out of concern for the safety of our employees, patrons and community,” according to a school statement. “While we are disappointed we will not be bringing you a vibrant summer of theatre for the first time in our 49-year history, we will be using this time to look for ways to keep you and our entire community connected to the arts in these uncertain times, and to bring you a very special season in the summer of 2021.”
Those who wish for a full refund of season and individual event tickets purchased will have to wait until the expiration of Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order that has effectively halted most Hope College office activities. Other options include rolling over current purchases to the 2021 season, or to designate the ticket purchase, “as a tax-deductable donation to HRST.” Ticket purchasers will be notified via mail of these options.
The Hope Summer Repertory Theatre joins the Tulip Time Festival as annual events in Holland that have been outright cancelled for 2020 thus far as a result of the COVID 19 restrictions, while the Latin Americans United for Progress’ “Fiesta” has been rescheduled to August 7-8.
