HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — On the day that Michigan saw its biggest increase in COVID-19 deaths, Ottawa nor Allegan counties’ health officials reported none.
But 31 Ottawa County residents do have the virus, and seven of them are hospitalized, according to county records.
Three Allegan County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and — at this time — none are hospitalized, and none have died, according to health department spokeswoman Lindsay Maunz. Four people were waiting on test results Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
“We are currently monitoring 19 individuals,” Maunz said in an email to WHTC, adding that the number of people tested “varies daily. Because of the testing changing, local health departments might not know an individual is tested until the test results are entered into the surveillance system by the lab.”
No one is considered recovered in Allegan County, she wrote.
“Recovered is defined as 72 hours fever free (without fever-reducing medications), and at least seven days have passed since symptoms (cough, shortness of breath) first appeared,” she wrote.
Allegan County’s updates have been posted on Facebook, but, Maunz noted, will also be posted to the county’s website.
