SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Saugatuck City Council has a regular meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2020, as a ZOOM conference.
Details on public participation in this council meeting is available through the city’s website.
Three major issues are before the members: Allowing the Saugatuck Township Fire District, which serves the city, to build a dock into the Kalamazoo River for emergency services at the junction of Water and Lucy streets; selling, without a bidding process, an unused 4’x24′ aluminum gangway to the STFD for $3,000 that would be used for emergency services; and suspending the scheduled May 4-7 annual curbside junk pickup service to an unspecified later date in 2020 due to the COVID 19 situation.
In addition, the request to postpone the curbside junk pickup service is not related to the regularly scheduled curbside collection of brush and leaves by Saugatuck Public Works staffers this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to City Manager Kirk Harrier, this is still going to be done safely during this COVID 19 situation, “in order to continue to keep the City’s storm sewers free of debris and functioning properly.”
