HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — “When I look back over my shoulder, I see what poetry brought me.”
The words of Jack Ridl, Hope College professor emeritus and the subject of a retrospective this spring which examines his poems and career. (Listen to the full podcast.) Ridl who says his students are his legacy still writes most every day and does private and public workshops.
Emily Nowak is with Wayne State University Press which has published many of Ridl’s works. She says he is approachable still.
“He’s such a prolific poet and an educator,” she said. “He’s been for so many years. So I think that’s really what makes him somebody that people want to continue to go back to.”
The retrospective can be found in the Innisfree Poetry Journal.
