HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — In Ottawa County, 210 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Deaths remain at nine people, with 39 considered recovered — though the county only reported 30 people with the virus as of March 30, 2020, which would be the 30-day mark. About 24 people remain hospitalized, and the Park-Holland-West Olive townships areas in the 49424 zip code had the most people with the virus: 45.
For the first time, county officials note 12 people younger than 19 have been diagnosed with the virus. The age group with the most ill people, 74, continues to be those 20 to 39 years old.
As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2020 Allegan County public health officials reported 84 residents with lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, and one death. County officials say 13 people have recovered from the virus, “based on the MDHHS definition,” which is a person is alive 30 days after being diagnosed.
But Allegan County’s reports don’t show 13 people with the virus 30 days earlier, which would have been March 30, 2020 — when county health officials reported just two people with the virus. County health reports don’t show more than 10 people with the virus until April 4, 2020, when there were 12 people reported as having the virus. They would not be considered recovered until May 3, 2020.
WHTC has asked county health officials to clarify the discrepancy.
