HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — City of Holland officials announced Friday that emergency rules are in effect for overnight parking.
Overnight parking will now be allowed as of Friday, May 1, 2020, (instead of the usual May 15 start date). The new rule has exceptions in downtown Holland’s shopping district, through Oct. 15, 2020.
In the midst of the pandemic, according to the city’s statement emailed to media late Friday afternoon, “residents may have more family members at home with multiple vehicles. Adjusting the date to May 1, may help households accommodate for additional vehicles and residents’ changing routines.”
Winter and spring parking restrictions typically in effect through May 15 created space during the city’s spring clean-up and the Tulip Time Festival.
But festival’s cancellation, according to the city’s statement, allows for the parking restrictions to be lifted earlier.
The places where parking will remain restricted are in downtown Holland, and along streets where parking is prohibited:
- Sixth Street from River to Columbia avenues.
- Seventh and Eighth streets from Lincoln to Maple avenues
- 10th Street from Pine to Lincoln avenues
- Pine and Lincoln avenues from Seventh to 10th streets
- River, Central, College, and Columbia avenues, from Sixth to 10th streets
- Maple Avenue, from Seventh to Eighth streets
