HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Marine Corps League, Shoreline Detachment, has put up the casket flags in Holland’s Pilgrim Cemetery Memorial Day for years — and they will this year, too.
“We understand the need to cancel some of the events this Memorial Day, but we cannot allow those veterans to go without the honor they have earned,” Shoreline Detachment officials wrote in a statement emailed to media.
This year, the group will use all required precautions, asking anyone who visits Pilgrim Cemetery do the same.
They encourage families to visit the cemetery and explain to any children with them that the flags represent, veterans felt their lives were worth the freedoms we now have and enjoy.
