HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Fire extensively damaged a Bangor Township home on 70th Street near 39th Avenue on Friday afternoon, May 15, 2020, according to a statement emailed to media from fire officials. The family escaped, but their cat died in the fire, according to authorities.
Bangor Community firefighters arrived at 4:40 p.m. and got mutual aid from Covert Township and South Haven Area Emergency Services firefighters.
The fire started in the kitchen when cooking oil overheated, according to Bangor Chief Derek Babcock.
