GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Motorists are reminded during the spring, summer and fall to be aware of motorcyclists, but those safety tips do go both ways, as an incident in Jenison on Saturday morning can attest.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, a 25-year-old Jenison man was apparently speeding along Baldwin Street around 10:30 AM, with witnesses saying that he was weaving in and out of traffic. When the motorcyclist attempted to pass a car to the right near Harmon Lane, between 28th and 12th avenues, the car suddenly veered to the right, into the path of the biker.
The unnamed motorcyclist was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of “non life-threatening injuries,” Wildfong said in a statement, while the motorist, a 62-year-old Hudsonville woman, was buckled up and unhurt. The crash remains under investigation.
