HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Department of Public Safety command staff and sergeants agreed to make a temporary change to police cruisers.
An image of two of the modified vehicles show the message, “We support equality, justice and peaceful protest.”
The message was visible on police vehicles during Sunday’s George’s Peaceful Unity Demonstration on June 7, 2020.
Organizers of recent demonstrations for racial equality and unity have said they work with police to coordinate safe events.
“Obviously we don’t want ot interfere,” said Holland Capt. Bob Buursma. “People have a right and we support their right to protest.”
He said police are pleased that Holland’s demonstrations were peaceful.
