GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Grand Rapids Police Officer Christopher Schurr bonded out of the Calhoun County Jail around 5 p.m. on Friday, June 10.
Schurr had appeared for his arraignment in 61st District Court in Grand Rapids virtually earlier in the day where he entering a plea of not guilty to the charge of second degree murder in the shooting death of Patrick Lyoya back in April.
Schurr posted a required 10% of his $100,000 dollar bond and was released later in the day.
The $100,000 dollar Bond was based on Schurr turning himself in, requesting counsel, and having no previous criminal history.
Bond was set with special conditions which include the he cannot purchase or possess a firearm, must report to court services, no use of drugs, and may not engage in any aggressive behavioral acts, said District Court Judge Nicholas Ayoub.
Schurr had been a member of the Grand Rapids Police Department since 2015.
