HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — If you didn’t hear the severe weather sirens sounding at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Holland, you weren’t alone — and it’s not unusal, says Ottawa County Emergency Manger Nick Bonstell.
He said he and Allegan County Emergency Manger Scott Corbin checked the mechanicals of the sirens and veriried they did sound at 11:44 yesterday mroning.
Noise from the wind and the gusts could have drown out the sound for people inside buildings, he said, and that is a good reason for people to ahve a secondary alert system for weather emergencies, such as the Smart911 app or a radio or othe alert system in place.
Winds gusted to more than 70 mph on Wednesday, causing significant tree and power line damage.
