HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — National Weather Service meteorologists in Grand Rapids issued a severe thunderstorm watch Friday, June 26, 2020, through 5 a.m. Saturday.
The watch applies to the Lakesore area from Grand Haven south to St. Joseph. In addition to rain, high winds, thunder and lighting, which have already caused multiple spotty power outages, the storms may result in flooding, espcially in low-lying areas.
The flooding advisory applied to Allegan and Ottawa counties through 7 a.m. Saturday — and may create hazardous driving. Meteorologists ask drivers to remember to “turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
The wind-and-wave action will cause dangerous swimming conditions into Saturday morning.
