HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Police ticketed a 78-year-old Grand Rapid woman for failure to yield, after a two-vehicle crash sent her and three others to area hospitals just after 12:45 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt indicated deputies called to the scene learned the Grand Rapids owman, driving a Jeep Cherokee south on 104th Avenue, stopped at the stop sign at Lake Michigan Drive, then drove into the path of a Chevrolet Prism, that had been westbound on Lake Michigan Drive.
The Prism’s driver, a 64-year-old Grand Haven woman, had to be extricated by firefighters. She and her passenger, a 15-year-old Grand Haven boy, went by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The Jeep’s driver and her passenger, a 74-year-old Grand Rapids man, went by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The road was temporarily closed for crash investigation and cleanup.
Firefighters from the townships of Allendale and Robinson assisted Sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
