UPDATE: Police remain on the 10000 block of Walnut Drive in Nunica (Crockery Township), accoding to Ottawa County Sherifff’s Capt. Mark Bennett.
Police are attempting to continue communicating with the suspect, identified by police as Daniel William Kriger, a 50-year-old man who is familiar to police from previous incidents involving disorderly or what Bennett called “assaultive” incidents.
Sheriff’s detectives have obtained warrants — for the man’s arrest and to search property — from the 58th District Court. The arrest warrant is based on the suspect allegedly pointing a firearm at a deputry Tuesday morning and involve two felony charges, Bennett said.
Sheriff’s deputies are getting support from area police agencies, to relieve officers and prevent heat-related illnesses or injuries.
HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Crockery Township officials called for Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies to deal with a disorderly visitor at 10 a.m. today, July 1, 2020.
The 50-year-old man left after talking to police, and went to his home, on the 10000 block of Walnut Street in Crockery Township. When police went there to follow up, they found the man, but he began waving a gun at them, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett duirng a press conference live-streamed by FOX17.
The situation quickly devolved into a barricaded gunman situation. Bennett said the man was upset and some of it involved upcoming elections, but his purposed in visiting the township hall is unclear, Bennett said.
Deputies, with an assist from Holland Department of Public Safety officers and their armored vehicle, surrounded the home No one has been hurt as of 12:30 p.m., Bennett said. He noted that the police have had several contacts in the past with the man, for disorderly or assaultive cases.
