HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — After a standoff with Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies that lasted more than 10 hours, Crockery Township resident Daniel William Kriger, 49, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
No one was hurt, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett, though officers had to be relieved from their tactical positions to avoid heat illness or injury — and were assisted with that by City of Holland police and state troopers.
Sheriff’s crisis negotiators were also on the scene.
Kriger, now in Ottawa County Jail, faces charges of felonious assault, and felony firearms, for allegedly waving a firearm at police who first met him at Crockery Township Hall, then followed up and tried meeting with him at his home.
Township officials initally called police when Kriger got very upset in the township hall’s lobby, Bennett said.
