HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — In avoiding a crash, a 22-year-old Holland woman and the passenger in her Honda Accord, a 26-year-old Holland man, ended up with an ambulance ride to Holland Hospital, just after 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020.
It happened near the intersection of Chicago Drive and Business I-196, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt.
An 85-year-old Holland man, driving a BMW west on Business I-196 in Holland Township, attempted to run into a private drive on the north side of Chicago. But he turned into the path of the Accord. The Holland woman avoied colliding with the BMW, but that sent her car off the road, and into a ditch.
Both she and her passenger were treated at Holland Hospital for what police called non-life-threatening injuries. Police cited the BMW crive for making an illegal right turn, Wendt said.
Holland Township firefighters and AMR ambulance EMTs assisted at the scene.
