HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 39-year-old Texas man suspected of car theft is in Ottawa County Jail after a Grand Haven hit-run crash and a police pursuit.
Police, called to find a suspected hit-run vehicle just after 6:15 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020, attempted a traffic stop in Grand Haven Township. The driver fled, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott.
Police pursued the car; the suspect drove into a ditch near Lake Michigan Drive and Lakeshore Drive, then fled on foot.
Deputies found and arrested him without incident, Knott said, and later learned the vecicle was stolen.
The case has been referred to Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for further action. Police have requreste multiple charges involving the crash, the car theft and fleeing and eluding.
