HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A three-car traffic crash near Baldwin Street and 28th Avenue in Georgetown Township resulted in multiple injuries and a ticket for an 87-year-old Jenison woman, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott.
Police, called to the scene just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020, found that the woman, driving a 2014 Toyota, made a wide right-hand turn on a red light, from northbound 28th onto eastbound Baldwin.
But she drove into the path of an eastbound 2013 Chevrolet being driven by a 49-year-old North Carolina man. That collision sent the Chevy into Baldwin’s westboung turn lane, hitting a 2012 Jeep. The force of the impact rolled the Chevy.
First responders freed the trapped occupants of the Chevy, which included a 50-year-old North Carolina woman. Several people involved, including the Jeep’s 35-year-old driver, a Hudsonville resident, suffered minor injuries in the crash, but told first responders they’d seek their own treatment.
The Jenison driver got a ticket for failure to yield the right of way. Georgetown firefighters and LIFE EMS aided deputies at the scene.
